Description
Before-Care (Pre-Treatment)
- Discontinue Active Ingredients: Stop using retinoids (Retin-A, retinol), AHAs, BHAs, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and benzoyl peroxide for 5-7 days prior to the treatment.
- Avoid Sun Exposure: Limit direct sun exposure and avoid tanning beds or self-tanners for 1 to 2 weeks beforehand.
- No Other Hair Removal: Refrain from facial waxing, threading, or using depilatory creams on the treatment area for 1 to 2 weeks before the appointment.
- Postpone Other Procedures: Ensure at least 2 weeks have passed since having chemical peels, microneedling, or laser treatments.
- Avoid Blood Thinners: Consult your physician about temporarily discontinuing non-prescription blood thinners like aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oils, and Vitamin E for 5-7 days before treatment, as this can reduce the risk of bruising.
- Arrive with Clean Skin: On the day of your appointment, come with a clean, makeup-free face.
Aftercare (Post-Treatment)
- Gentle Cleansing: Cleanse the skin gently twice daily using a mild, fragrance-free cleanser and lukewarm water. Pat your skin dry with a clean, soft towel—do not rub.
- Hydration: Apply a soothing, hydrating moisturizer at least twice daily to support the skin barrier. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides, or niacinamide.
- Sun Protection: Your skin will be highly sensitive to UV rays. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily, even when indoors. Reapply every two hours if you are outdoors. Avoid direct sun exposure for at least one week.
- Avoid Heat & Sweating: Skip strenuous exercise, hot showers, saunas, and steam rooms for 24-48 hours after the treatment.
- No Active Ingredients: Avoid applying products with exfoliating agents (retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, etc.) for 3-7 days.
- Delay Makeup: Allow your skin to breathe and recover by avoiding makeup application for at least 24 hours.
- Do Not Pick: Mild flaking may occur, but resist the urge to touch, scratch, or pick at your skin to prevent infection or scarring.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Use a clean pillowcase and clean makeup brushes (when you resume using them) to minimize bacterial exposure.
